Treasurer

The Treasurer role sits in the Management part of the committee, alongside the Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary. They ensure we meet our financial practice and transparency obligations, and adhere to best practices in the management of our donations, membership subscriptions and expenditure. We're now looking for someone to take over this role from the current treasurer.

What You'll Do

As our Treasurer, you would:

  • Oversee our budget and resources
  • Book-keeping: maintain itemised accounts, and collect and archive receipts
  • Prepare a monthly brief on our financial situation for the committee, and a yearly report for the Annual General Meeting
  • Administer our bank account and act as a signatory for expenditure

Experience

Experience in acting as Treasurer for a medium-sized community organisation, or in book-keeping for a small business, would be desirable. However, you might also be suitable with the following skills:

  • Good general administrative and organisational ablities
  • Moderate competence with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • An understanding of the legal requirements for small organisations' finances
  • Experience of online banking

It’s also a valuable addition to any CV or LinkedIn profile.

Your Ideas

All of our roles have flexibility in them, so if there are things that you’re interested in that are not in the description, then we’re very happy to try and accommodate your interests.

Time Commitment

We are all volunteers and understand people’s time is precious. We all do what we can, when we can. As such, all of our roles are flexible: you can contribute as little as a couple of hours a month. Wherever possible, we do ask committee members to join our committee meetings, which are held monthly, remotely over Zoom, lasting no more than 40 minutes.
